Tuesday Randoms

~ Hey, how've y'all been?
Busy in my world, but what's new? Also, I have the feeling that I totally stink at this blogging bit. Don't get me wrong, I do love it. I just have a hard time remembering the fun things we do as a family or I forget to take pics. Sometimes I even sit down and start writing a blog post but get all sidetracked. Oops. I have a ton of posts just kind of waiting in the wings, unfinished. Hopefully with the holidays coming up I will be better about posting.

~Did you Black Friday shop? Ha. We did. We actually were among the craziest of shoppers that got the early start on Thanksgiving evening. Insane? Yes, indeed. We went to the local Wally World for no particular reason and watched people go crazy. I was amazed at what people were capable of when it came to $15 crockpots and $2 hand mixers. Crap was flying in the air! We left Walmart empty handed and headed to our next stop which was as equally insane. Old Navy. We waited in line for hours for the chance to get a wristband which was the golden ticket to a Kodak digital camera. Let me tell you... we were on track for being a golden ticket holder. However, some lame girls from the back of the line cut after about an hour or so (and a good head count!!) of waiting. Cheaters suck and a certain someone (ahem, not me) let those girls know he didn't aprove of their cutting in line. We know they did because we (and those waiting in line around us) watched them go to the back of the line, then their cars and then cut to the front with their "friend." Whatever. We still got what we went in for except the golden tickets were cut off directly at us!!

~ I'm tired of turkey. After Thanksgiving dinner at home, leftovers on Friday and another Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday I don't care if I ever eat a nice big turkey dinner again. Seriously. My body hates me for that. And I even burned off my turkey on Thanksgiving morning before I ever ate it. The hubby and I ran a race that morning. Him a 5k and me a 10k, which we both killed (you can read about it on my other blog, the link is in my sidebar.).  This whole food/running this is on between now and Christmas!

~ The temps were in the high 70s this time last week (or at least it felt that way). Then we had massive amounts of rain. Today it is freezing cold. Some people around these parts are probably freaking because the weather man said the s word. I don't mind the s word but people around here seem to make a huge deal of it. And I typically am not a fan of the cold temps but it meant that I was able to wear a new peacoat today. Score! haha

~ I got the Chirstmas cards ordered this week and they're all ready to ship! So excited about that because the one Cyber Monday deal I did cash in on was through Snapfish and it was 50% off! That's a great deal if you know anything about photo greeting cards. :)

~ The Christmas tree went up over the weekend and I was a little less than motivated to get it done. No reason but it bothered the hubby. So last night I got it done, with a lot less fussing at the kids over where they put their ornaments (which happened to mostly be the back of the tree because I am a mean ol' mom). And because I do have a nice mom bone in me I let them help toss the fake snow all over it. That is such a fun mess to clean up!

Three Things Thursday - thankful edition

I am thankful for -

1. My family. I am thankful for a loving, kind and supportive husband who puts up with more crap from me than any man ever should. ;) I am thankful for my two little loves, Annabelle and Isaiah, who even through the fussing, fighting and occasional misbehavior make me smile like no one else in this world can. I am thankful to be able to spend the day at home with them. As bad as this may sound, I am thankful for the family I was able to "choose" and start on my own (w/the amazing hubby!) because they will always be there even when it seems like other family won't.

2. My health. I am thankful that I decided over 2 years ago to hang up the bad, unhealthy habits and lose weight once and for all. It has brought me tears of joy and pain but it has brought me a lot of happiness and hopefully  many more years to be around for my husband and kids. My health has allowed me to become physically fit and develop a huge love for running. I am thankful that I have kept going instead of stopping when things get tough. I am thankful for a body that CAN, no matter how hard my mind tries to tell me I can't

3. All of my many blessings. I am thankful for my many friends, near and far. I am thankful for my job and my husband's job, the roof over our heads, the car that gets us where we are going, the food on our table, and the clothes on our backs. We may not have the best of everything but we definitely make the best of what we have.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Tuesday Randoms

We've had a busy week or so at Emert house.

Our awesome football team handed it to those nay sayers once again!!! GO Tornadoes!
That means we head into the playoffs - round 3- this week. I'm sure the naysayers will be relatively negative again this week since we play a team we have previously let beat us. Yes, I said let beat us. Hopefully our team will show up to play Friday and give the other team a real game!!!

This weekend the kids and I headed to GA to visit my dad and sister. My uncle and cousin were also there, oh and grandma too. It was a great visit but definitely way too short! My dad came in on Monday to stay with us. He left this morning after taking the kids to school. My sweet Belle was a sad little girl this evening. She's realizing we don't see my side of the family (esp my dad) often enough.

The good news about having company means my house is super clean as opposed to just lived in normal day clean. LOL I'm sure some of you busy moms will totally understand what I mean by that. Football season is just crazy around our house so we typically have laundry to be folded in the living room and the laundry room is overflowing with clothes needing to be washed. There are stacks of school work and other random bags in spot or another. I'm thankful all of that has been picked up and we are going to strive to make it stay that way (at least through the remainder of football season....the goal is beyond).

Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? Yeah, me either. I haven't even made a Black Friday shopping list!!! Shameful, huh!? Truth is, a lot of my Christmas shopping is done already. What?? Don't give me that look! I like to get an early start on things. I am never the last minute type when it comes to Christmas. The tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving (or the Saturday after) and I think a Christmas tree looks way better with wrapped gifts under it. So, shopping early means I can also wrap and have gifts under my tree.

I hope to be back to regular posting soon. Have a great night!!

Peanut-isms

I thought I would share a few of the things my 5 year old has said lately that has left me laughing. The boy keeps us on our toes on a regular basis but is full of one liners!

At lunch yesterday-
"Mamaw puts a lot of salt on her chips at El Sazon. I don't want to use salt on my food because I like to not have high blood pressure."

He also told me last night,
"I'm not going to drink Diet Coke anymore because you know how dragons have fire coming out there noses. Well, that's how Diet Coke feels when I drink it and it hurts like that."

Tonight we were talking about school. I asked if he was tired from school today.
He said, "Yeah. I didn't get to take a nap because we had to go to a pepper rally."

He also informed me that his art teacher is really country. He says, "Yeller instead of yellow."

An innocent conversation about age went like this...
Peanut - "Mom, how old are you?
Me - "7. How old are you?"
Peanut - "I'm 5, you are not 7."
Me - "Then how old do you think I am?"
Peanut - "54"
Annabelle - "I know mom has silver hair but she is not 54."

Falling back

We had a fun weekend here in the Emert house!

Friday night was of course a football game for our beloved Tornadoes! It was the first play off game of the season. And they won (so take that nay-sayers!!!!)! While it wasn't as pretty of a win as one would like to see it was still a win. 27-7. I didn't take the camera so there are no pics from me of the game. Last year I was so good about taking my camera but really slacked off this year.

Saturday was a full day for us. It started bright and early. We had to take Daddy (aka Coach) to get his truck since we left it at the school the night before. Then Miss Annabelle and I were off to meet our Girl Scout troop at Spirited Art to paint! This was so very much fun. I was able to choose ahead of time, due to a snafu in scheduling, what painting we were going to do. So, because I love snowmen and it is that time of year (almost) that is just what we painted. The class was about an hour and a half long and the instructor was great. My girls all did a great job. Here is a pic of me and my girly...

When we got done painting the girls decided they wanted lunch so we hit up the McD's for Happy Meals. That was a lot of fun, too.  I even took cupcakes for the girls to have. :) So sweet, I am!

After we did all that, Annabelle and I met up with Daddy and Peanut at the mall where we walked around TJ Maxx for a bit. Then we went home to change because we had something fun to surprise the kids with..... We took them to see "Puss In Boots!" It was a cute movie, if you ask me and the kids. Daddy was a bit bored. We both noted the sexual inuindos in the movie. So glad my kids don't pick up on that stuff.

And then it was time to fall back....
This has messed me up quite a bit. I was stressed about my phone not adjusting the time itself (which it did not) because I was meeting friends to run at 7am this morning. So I tossed and turned and finally realized around 5:30 that I was just awake. I laid there trying my hardest to go back to sleep but finally got up when hubby's alarm went off at 6:30. I ended up running 10 miles with my friends today but between being awake so early and running I was exhausted and by 4pm I was asleep on the couch.
I'm pretty sure that while I slumbered the kids (though they denied it) ate most of what was left of their Halloween candy. Oh the joy!  Anyway, it is now 7pm and I feel as though I could go sleep another 8 hours. However, laundry waits me......

I hope this falling back weekend has been kind to you!!!

Tuesday Tidbits

~ Halloween is over. There are two huge buckets of candy in my house. That is unless the hubby attacks it today while no one is home. haha He is home again nursing his bum ankle. You can read about what caused that go here.

~ Can you believe it is November? 24 days 'til Thanksgiving. And then, my fave.... Black Friday! Yay for fun, crazy shopping days/nights. hahaha

~ Speaking of Christmas shopping.... we are pretty much thisclose to being done with the kiddos. Santa got an early start here. Of course I am sure each kid will find at least 87 things they HAVE to have or really really really want between now and Christmas but whatever. Some kids don't get a single thing so mine better just be thankful. Right.

~ Hubby went out yesterday and bought special strobe lights for inside of the kids pumpkins (that I failed to get really good pictures of). Anyway, those lights were still on when I got home from work tonight.  However, we did not have any random day after Halloween Trick or Treaters. I might have been willing to give away 2 buckets of candy if we had though.

~ Yes, I am that mean. ;)

~ I have said about 87 times tonight that I should really get up and get clothes, lunches and my gym bag all ready to go for tomorrow. It's 9:50 pm. I have not moved from my seat (except to tuck the kids in bed) since Biggest Loser came on. Can we say late night!?

~ Ok...with that I'm off here.....
