Tuesday I posted a bit about how the scale hasn't been my friend as of late and got some great feedback from a lot of you telling me to chuck it. Well, friends you encouraged me to do something else instead. I decided to work harder, get off my fanny and actually do this weight loss thing FOR REAL! No more talking about it, no more griping constantly to my hubby about it. It is just time to do it. And I am.
My weight has been a huge struggle for me for a few years now. It has become harder especially since having kids. I am sure some of you can relate. Your body just isn't the same after pregnancy and child birth. I used that as an excuse for a long time, too. In 2007 I lost about 70 pounds after I finally weaned my "
boobaholic" son from my chest. I got really serious and joined LA Weight Loss center where I was successful for about a year. Last year wasn't that great of a year for our little family and I used that as an excuse to eat and pack back on most of those 70 pounds I lost the year before. Excuses, excuses. I went back sometime in 2008 and lost a little bit but didn't stick to going consistently to the center to weigh in and counsel. I'm sure I had an excuse for that, too. Last year I also ran a 5K with a dear friend of mine and remember how victorious I felt upon crossing the finish line. I didn't keep up with my running. I didn't keep up with my weight loss plan. I gained weight, again.
For the last several months I have done the whole yo-yo diet thing. I've switched from South Beach to counting calories and making a poor attempt at a food
journal all on my own. I had my own little mix of exercise that I did on occasion. I just haven't been sticking with anything consistently. Well, I think the only the I had been doing regularly was weighing myself on the scale at home and hating myself more each time I looked at the little red digital numbers it displayed. Depressing.
I have wonderful support in my husband. He has always been right on board with anything I have wanted to try in an attempt to lose weight. I belong to a gym that we pay for monthly and I never visit. He rarely complains. (
thank you, honey). He has pushed me when I need to be pushed. He has weighed/measured and prepared meals for me when I have been to rushed or busy to do it myself. The best thing is...the man loves me fat or not. I know he gets tired of listening to me complain though and at the same time I get tired of complaining about it.Yesterday I decided to stop complaining and do something about it. I called my LA Weight Loss Center and the same sweet girl I had grown so fond of spoke to me on the phone. I set up an appointment for today. I dreaded going in there today. I didn't want her or anyone else there to see me in my current state. I was
embarrassed that at one time I had done so well and worked so hard to lose the weight and now here I was back at square one. Again, depressing. I had such a horrible feeling in my gut on the drive over. I just knew the scale was going to buzz and scream and throw me off. It wasn't anything like I had imagined though. I weighed and just let her tell me the news. Much to my surprise I was (am) only up 9 pounds from this time last year. Not too bad I suppose.
Anyway, I want to say that I am proud of myself for going back and doing this. I have already prepared all my food for the day tomorrow. I even did well today with my food choices. I drank all of my water and then some and limited myself to only ONE Diet Dr. Pepper (Sonic has the best). Today was the start of a new day. Tomorrow is going to be a better start to the new me.
I was debating about whether or not to post anything about this on my blog. I decided to do so though because it gives you all (my wonderful readers) another opportunity to get to know me better. And what better place for me to gain more support. So, thank you in advance for your support. I will post updates periodically so check back.
