Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

I am a slacker blogger.
I even considered changing the title of the blog to "Diaries of a Slack Blogger."
Just kidding of course...about the title change, not about my slacking.

I think my BlackBerry is really going to die soon.
It doesn't hold a charge for long. Sometimes I cannot dial out. The "T" key sticks 95% of the time.
And just last night (Oct. 25th at 7:41 pm) the thing read the date as Oct. 27th 8:41am.
I hate getting a new phone because it means $$ and getting use to something different.

We have a GS meeting tonight. Another GS mom/leader mentioned that her troop is dressing up for Halloween at their meeting tonight. Why in the world did I NOT think of that??  Instead all I have planned is our normal business and going over the "homework" I asked them to do at our last meeting. Oh yeah, and I have yet to do said homework with my own daughter! Yikes!!

Speaking of homework. I have mine cut out for me. My daughter has decided she wants to be the jellyfish that she saw on FamilyFun.com for Halloween. It is Tuesday before Halloween and I still have not gone to the store for supplies. I should get on that. Especially since daddy one upped me while he was at the store last night. He went ahead and made Peanut's wish come true by purchasing the IronMan costume his little heart desired. Now if mommy could just step up to the plate for Annabelle. lol

We still haven't carved pumpkins. And you wanna know something? I have zero desire to do so! ha.
Halloween is not my favorite holiday (if you even want to call it that). I mean I do love getting my kids dressed up but really we don't need all the candy that comes with ToT and the thought of spending $$ on something they will wear once (or maybe a couple of times) kinda drives me crazy because I guess I know that the candy will sit in a closet until at least Valentine's day if not Easter and eventually (like by Christmas) the costumes will be found crammed under the bed or shoved under a pile of something in the closet that desperately needs to be cleaned out. Tell me you can relate!?!?

So, we are getting bad weather or we are suppose to. In fact, I just saw on my Facebook where 2 local places posted pics of what to the normal eye look like funnel clouds. Funny thing (if you find humor in potentially bad weather. lol) is that I am working in the same location as the pictures were taken. Weird. I didn't see a thing and believe me I have gone outside to look. What amazes me more is the fact that this neck of the woods does not have tornado warning sirens. People here have made fun of me because where I came from (GA) we had these. And I always wondered why in bad storms this are does not. Oh well.

When I first started writing this random post it was early in the day. My day at work is coming to a close.
I canceled my GS mtg tonight based on the safety of my girls and the fact that we meet in a portable unit. Given the fact that we were/are under tornado watch/warnings (they all sound the same to me! haha) until sometime tonight I just was not taking that risk. I did consider going to the gym......

JUST KIDDING. sorta ;)
Have a good night...eat, drink, and be random....

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

Once again, it is Tuesday..just in case there was any question. Or if any of you are as sleep deprived like at least 3 of the 4 members in my household are this week and the week before and the week before that. haha Actually it is no laughing matter. It's getting old and I am feeling very sad for my girl. The sleep issues continue and I swear they are getting worse. Insomnia, apnea, fear.. who knows what it is but I am counting down the days until Oct. 25th and hope it gets here fast! For now, I will just sip my large coffee slowly in hopes that it gets me through my day.
Have I mentioned the football game from Friday?
If not, there really isn't much to recap. Oh but wait, our team scored 35 points before the first half or maybe it was the first quarter. Heck, I was so bored I lost track. There was even a point where our entire sideline - fans, players...cheered for the other team when they scored! Seriously, boring football? Final score 59-7.

Still debating Halloween and costumes.
I don't even know how things go around here when Halloween is on a Sunday. I think the one year I remember it being on a Sunday we might have done the Boo at the Zoo but I am not real sure. And I have no clue what the kids are going to be. I am in the midst of trying to convince them to go as a football player/cheerleader since we have the dress up attire for that which means no $$ being spent on something they will wear for a few short hours. Peanut has a few Transformer costumes he got for Christmas last year and I almost had him convinced to be Optimus Prime but he is insistent on being Iron Man. And because I mentioned liking Wonder Woman as a little girl, well....
So, my real dilemma is ToT on Saturday or Sunday?

I was less than thrilled with my packed lunch today. I really dislike days when this happens. I sucked it up and am eating my lunch...tortilla w/one Laughing Cow light cheese spread over it, spinach and turkey with a side of grapes and baby carrots. Boring. And you know (or at least I do) that I will be thinking of something sinfully tasty all day long.

It's been a week since I have had my beloved Diet Coke. I'm not sure if it is the actual Diet Coke flavor I am missing (only a little) or the fizziness of it. Either way, I have not given in yet. But I admit it is hard to be strong.

Ok, that's it for now..

Pink Ink...yes I did!

This weekend was a fun filled and somewhat wild one for us. Football on Friday night, gym Saturday morning and an outing with the Girl Scouts. Just the normal kind of "Emert weekend."

However, a local tattoo shop was doing a fundraiser for Susan Komen Race for the Cure. They were offering 2 inch pink breast cancer awareness ribbons for only $20, which I would say is a bargain for a tattoo. And I know what you are thinking, who in their right mind wants a bargain tattoo! Ha that isn't really what I mean by that at all.  All the proceeds were going to Susan G. Komen and breast cancer research which is totally awesome! And since I am not having luck in the MY fundraising efforts why not go forth and support another group's efforts...oh and get a tattoo while I was at it. ;)

I have been going back and forth on the idea of a tattoo but always knew *IF* I got one it would be one with some sort of meaning not one I'd get just because everyone else is doing it. So, like I said.. I went back and forth on it. After hitting the gym and telling myself that I might go Saturday to the event just to see if it was something I would do I sent hubby a text and said, "I AM doing it." So, we agreed to meet there around 12:30. I called a friend and asked if she wanted to go, too. Her grandmother is going through treatments for breast cancer now so I kind of thought she probably would go. And I was right. It was fun hanging out with so many friends and my family even if we were at a tattoo shop bored out of minds at times while waiting to get inked! My kids didn't complain about just sitting around coloring and playing so it was even better.

We put our names on the list, paid and waited a while. The kids colored pictures of skunks with little ribbons on their rears! They were cute! There was music, balloons, bbq and just fun times while hanging out with friends. I ended up having to leave (to go meet the GS troop) and come back later. Luckily once I got back later that evening they got me right in. Hubby and Annabelle had walked to the store next door for a drink and snack. I walked in the shop back to the room alone all the while holding Miss Annabelle's Bitty Baby. I am sure I was quite the sight and based on the looks I got I am certain some might have thought I was a bit crazy!

Anyway, the whole thing took roughly 15-20 minutes but to say it was not painful would be a lie. I made it through the whole thing without crying (you know, I am a baby!!) but I did have a few moments that I was sure I'd come off the chair. So, call me crazy but I am glad I got what I did because I still love it and all it's permanent-ness (you love my made up words!).

Me, outside waiting...pic courtesy of my boy Peanut!

During the process! Annabelle let me borrow her orange bead necklace. lol

on my foot...it was actually done by the mother of a boy in Annabelle's grade.
done! I do love it!

So, judge away if you must...
I've been called a skank.
I've been told there is no justifying a tattoo regardless of the why or what.
Well, for those of you who DO judge based on a little body art...shame on you!

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

Um, Tuesday snuck up on me! Ha. I sat down around 9pm and told my hubby that I hadn't blogged in a while and pretty  much missed Random Thoughts for the day. Geez. Where have I been since October 6th???  Oh I have lots to tell! We have done SO many fun things as a family and most of those things have been FREE (somehow they've cost us a little though). I have pictures too! I just have no excuse for not blogging about our fun other than I took a week off work, just got back yesterday and have a mess on my desk, and finally my pics are on my laptop at home which means blogging late in the evening (10pm?). Ahh, you love excuses! ;)

Have you bought Halloween costumes yet? I haven't. I'm trying to coax my kids into just being a football player and a cheerleader. What? It's FREE! We already have the "costumes" which means I wouldn't have to fight every other last minute mom in the local Walmart to find the IronMan (or was it Batman?) costume my son wants or the right size in the BatGirl suit that my daughter decided she would wear since her brother was going to be a Super hero and it just makes sense that they coordinate, right!? And just who decided to make Halloween fall on a Sunday?? lol

Peanut and I went to the local pumpkin farm with his preschool class today. It's always fun. Last year Daddy was able to take the day off and go with us. On Sunday Peanut asked if Daddy was going and when I told him no the little turkey said, "Well, we should just cancel it since Daddy can't go!" Gee, am I chopped liver now?! lol Anyway, we had a great time. We both wore our Halloween shirts. We were cute! I was excited about all the awesome pics I was going to take in the sunflowers, in the pumpkin patch, on the hay ride and on all the awesome fall decor. We parked and I got my camera out of the bag, put the lense on and turned it on. BIG RED FLASHING BATTERY! Yup, dead. Major bummer to my day. I held back the tears but did text my majorly bad news to hubby to tell him I thought we needed a reenactment this weekend. haha We likely won't be going back this weekend but I am going to get some good fall pics at some point. I just hope to do that before fall is over.

My hubby sent this pic to me tonight.....

Yep, you are looking at it from the correct angle. My little guy had a busy day and no nap.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

I took this week off work. I have good intentions when it comes to my house. So far I have tackled the mountian of papers from school, junk mail, coupons..you name it that sits in that one spot on my  kitchen counter that drives my hubby nuts. Do you have one of those spots? Yeah, I knew I wasn't alone there.

I woke up this morning to my  kids immediately fighting. Joys of motherhood, right.
One minute they are playing nicely together and the next someone lost an eye over a stupid stuffed toy. Oy.

I got the kids to eat spinach today and they didn't even know it.
Smoothies! It was my first attempt at making my own and they were rather tasty. Annabelle asked for extra! Next time I will add a little more ice. But overall I am glad I found a way to sneak more green into them!

UPS delivered a huge package to our door today. I knew when the doorbell rang who it was and told the kids not to go running to the door. After the truck pulled away the kids were trying to get a good glimpse of what was now the big brown package on the front porch. They begged me to go get it. You see, Daddy told Peanut he ordered him a surprise that would be here this week. Well, Mommy ordered Santa gifts over the weekend and that's what is in the huge box on the porch. I'm sure Peanut would love that package right now but he will just have to wait for the surprise Daddy has coming and be happy with it.

I should be tackling laundry right now.
Some days I feel like I need a whole crew of workers to help around the house. You would think with the 4 of us living here we could keep up but sometimes I think cleaning and laundry is the last thing anyone wants to do. Maybe I need ways to make it fun. haha Can cleaning and laundry ever be fun???

Woohoo! My week just got like a ton better!
My hubby just called to say that I can drop my kids off at Mamaw and Papaw's tomorrow night and don't have to pick them back up until Friday around noon! Party!! Two mornings with no alarm, no fighting children and the best part is my hubby will be home! Yay! I get gym time, kid free with no time frame to stay in! I can run errands and maybe have a lunch date with my handsome man. Can you tell mommy is excited!??!
Don't get me wrong....I LOVE my  kids but you all know a break is nice!

And now...
It is your turn to get random!
