Three Things Thursday

1. 5 days until the kids go back to school. Still unprepared (me). We haven't gotten down the whole nightly routine for school yet. Bedtimes are still off. And of course I am worried! The kids complain that the sun is still up and it's light out at 8:15-8:30 but I know they both would benefit from the early bedtime. Isaiah especially would because he is NOT use to getting up at 6:15-6:30. Ever. The kid is a sleeper. He did fall asleep around 8:30 last night but not in his bed. Ugh. He got enough sleep. I could tell because he woke up happy this morning. That's always a good sign of a good night's sleep from either of my  kids. Annabelle...oy vey. She is just like her mama in that she hates mornings. Well, let me rephrase that. I don't hate mornings, but I hate getting up in the morning. I like to take my time getting out of bed. She's much the same way. But (if you've read here long enough you know the girl has issues) she has suffered insomnia and other sleep related problems, which have seemed to go better in the last few months. I don't worry so much about that as much as I do just the general issues with having to deal with a girl who tends to like drama a bit (though she claims to NOT be a drama queen). Ahh. All that to say school starts soon and this mama is NOT excited.

2. I have been entertaining myself at work by reading transcripts from railroad investigations. Fun stuff. This is what happens when I am caught up on work and bored. It's all I can find "to do" to keep myself busy other than vacuum, wipe down windows or scrub the toilets.

3. I had a really great experience on Ebay recently. I had purchased an item and paid immediately. A day or two later I received notification that my item had shipped and was given the arrival date. Two days after the "expected arrival date" I still had not received the item so I nicely contacted the seller asking for the tracking number or any other info they could give me in regards to the item. Next thing I know I have an email stating the seller had refunded my money in it's entirety. Then I look in my Ebay messages to find that the seller had said, "So sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I have refunded your entire purchase and will ship the item Monday." What?? Refund and I still get the item all because you made a simple mistake and forgot to ship on time? Wow. I was blown away. This people is what makes customers happy and keeps them coming back. I totally did NOT expect such but it was a nice surprise. :)

Saturday Happy List

Photobucket

Linking up with Mamarazzi to share what's makin' me happy today!

~ Today I am happy that I got to spend the day soaking up the sun (and trying to stay cool) with my family and some great friends at a local water park. There was minimal fussing or fighting with the kids and we all had a blast riding water slides and trying to stay cool.

~ Home made ice cream sundaes. Mmmmm. That's all I have to say about that.

~ Early bed time tonight so I can get up and meet my running buddy for a long run in the morning. Seriously, that does make me happy.  6-7 miles on tap for tomorrow. :)

~ Manicures. I had one the week before last while the kids were at VBS. I got the new gel shellac and it was (is) awesome. I think I will go tomorrow if I can skean away for a little while because I'm starting to have a few spots go bad for me. Alone time in the nail salon makes me smile. Fingers crossed I get lucky then I will be suuuuuper happy.

~Toy Story. Love those movies. We just caught the last half of Toy Story 2 on tv and the kids begged us to let them watch Toy Story 3. Love it. Even if the ending is sad these movies still make me happy. Annabelle even said if she still has her Jessie doll when she gets older she is going to take her to college. Awwww.....

~Rain. Seriously, it has been so hot and I don't have to tell you that. I love the summer time, the sun and even the heat to an extent BUT rain would make me happy. We are getting thunder right now and one of my FB friends posted that she was listening to the rain. She lives just a few miles down the road so I hope that is a sign that the rain is headed our way. I hope it brings a slight cold front too and will cool things off.

What is making YOU happy ???

TTT

1.Our little puppy, Sadie Belle, is growing insanely fast. She's so cute and playful. Hubby says I have her spoiled but I refuse to believe that that has anything to with the fact that she sleeps in my bed, loves cuddling with me in my chair or how we share a bottle of water every night before bed. She's so smart she even "drinks" out of the bottle. Love her! She's going to the vet today for more booster and deworm stuff, I think. I can't wait to hear her stats and see how big she has gotten since we picked her up on June 25th. And seriously, look at her sweet face.....

2. We are taking the kids to Splash Country this weekend. We have season passes and have used them quite a bit this year but since vacation we have been SO busy that we haven't been able to go up and enjoy the water park. I am totally looking forward to it this weekend. It's been so hot here that it is tough to be outside unless you are in a body of water. The kids are excited too. I love that they can play in the little pools and I can lounge in a chair and work on my tan.

3. I really wish our school system would let us know ahead of time what the kids' teacher assignments are and hand out a complete supply list before school starts. I remember as a kid walking (yes, walking) to my school a few weeks before school was to go back and finding the grade list on the door, locating my name and seeing what teacher I would have and what class my friends were in. It kind of gave a peaceful, easy (hey is that a song??) feeling for the first day knowing you'd see the same familiar faces and had time to at least let it sink in if (heaven forbid) you were placed in the "mean" teacher's class. haha Here we are lucky to find out who our kids have and what supplies they will need a few days before school but likely we will know the day school starts, which is SO soon now. 13 days.....

This and that and everything in between

I had grand plans yesterday to go directly after work to the gym to run the 4 miles I convinced myself earlier in the day that I would run. However, football season is upon us and we are trying to get into a more normal routine for school so I felt a twinge of guilt about making the kids go to the gym twice in one day and then getting home late. I didn't want dinner to be on the table at a late hour....you see where I am going, a plethora of excuses. Anyhoo, my car headed straight towards Kroger and my legs right to the Wholly Guacamole. The shame. I don't even need to tell you what happned when I got home but it involved said guac and blue corn chips.

Run. I did not.

I did head back out to the store later for batteries. The kids have begged all summer (and even in the spring/winter) to play the "Wii we got but don't even use!!!" So, I slipped Just Dance 2 in and we boogied down a while. That counts as cardio, right!?

Speaking of school and routines... our kids go back on Aug 2nd. I wish summer was long like I remember it being when I was in school. I'm not sure my hubby feels the same way though since he is the one home with the kids in the summer! I'm pretty sure the kids have driven him batty.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you how hot it is here. Like most of the country we are feeling the heatwave right now. I don't mind the heat IF I am in a swimsuit and there is a cool pool of water nearby. However, I am very much ready for fall. Fall is my favorite time of year and not just because it's football season. ;)

I want to run a couple of half marathons this fall so I am hoping the weather starts to change a bit soon. And I hope it doesn't turn stone cold too fast either.

I love that my hubby is taking the kids shopping for school shoes today. And he volunteered to do it! They're passing a little time between now and when I can meet them for lunch. I love summer because we get the opportunity to all have lunch together and it breaks up the day for me a little, which is nice too!

I'm going to REALLY start writing real posts (like I once did) and including pictures! Promise. We do fun things in our little world, sometimes. ;)

Saturday's Happy List

Photobucket

I am linking up with the fabulous Mamarazzi this beautiful (or dreary) Saturday morning to tell you all about some of the things that are making me happy today.

~ Early Saturday morning long runs. Especially the ones with friends (or hubby) AND whent here is little humidity and cool temps out! Today's run was fantastic. Today's run just really set a great mood for me for the day. I wish they could all be as awesome.

~ Diet Coke. I totally went in the store after my run and grabbed a cold 20 oz bottle. I was and still am NOT ashamed. It made me happy to twist the lid on that Diet Coke.

~ Naps. Even short little cat naps like the one I had earlier make me happy.

~ Blog comments. :) Though my blog hasn't been getting them lately. Please, make me a happier girl and say something sweet!?! Thanks, you're awesome.

~Cupcakes. You know this. I think I will make some today/this evening. That would makes lots of people in my house happy. Saturday seems like a good enough excuse to celebrate with cupcakes don't ya think!?

Three Things Thursday

1. I haven't blogged all week. And I could go on and on about how I always say week after week that I am going to do better about blogging but truth is I don't know IF I will do better with blogging. I want life to slow down sometimes. We have been so busy this summer. Hubby has had 2 a days with football as well as meetings. The kids have been at VBS all week. I've been working out and taking a little bit of time to myself.

2. People are (or at least can be) crazy. There are people in our neighborhood that have like 6 little dogs. They walk these dogs ALL at once. The guy also carries a huge stick/shovel handle for when he walks. Keep in mind we live on a short street with a culdesac and only about 25 houses. WHY would someone need a massive stick to walk their dogs? Maybe because that many dogs at one time is T.R.O.U.B.L.E.!? Yesterday I had let Sassy, our 13 yr old practically toothless boxer, out  to potty. I walked back in for maybe a total of 10 seconds to grab my gym bag and came back out. Sassy came right back to me. I put her in the house and grabbed my keys and walked back out. The crazy dog lady was walking up my driveway. Great. She said, "Your dog attacked mine." I told her our dog was never agressive and I would highly doubt she'd attack a dog, a fly, another person or a single thing really. She is 13 yrs old and hardly has any teeth left or the energy to exert herself to a dog fight. Also, had those dogs been fighting (7 total dogs!) I would have heard that crap and it would have taken a good long while for a fight with that many dogs to be broken up. She went on to say well my dog did attack her's and she was having to miss work to take them to the vet and would let me know what the fees were. I giggled told her ok and went on to work. She and her "man" were still walking those dogs when I left. One would think if they were injured they would end the walk and get them ready to go be looked over. Not.so.much. Anyhoo..
Hubby got home and noticed the puppy girl (10 wk old Sadie Belle) had a bit of wonky eye. Upon further inspection he noticed Sassy (the accussed attacker) was greasy as was the floor in the room we keep her in during the day. And within a few seconds of touching Sassy's fur hubby's arm was on fire burning and turned red. Nice.
Guess what that crazy neighbor lady did to MY dog??? Mace, pepper spray or something along that line. Mad?? You betcha. We are still debating on how to handle that one but the odd thing is they still haven't brought over the vet bill for thei 6 ferocious little dogs. Hmmmmmm......

3. I got up to take the puppy out to potty tonight and noticed a HUGE spider. HUGE. I cannot even tell you just how big it was but it's body was as big as my thumb only imagine if my thumb were swollen. yeah, huge. I freaked. Shut the door. I made hubby go out. He squashed it with his shoe. Pregnant spider. O.M. Gee. Gross. Tiny baby spiders all over the front patio. ick ick ick. I hate spiders. Hate them. I will probably have nightmares about spiders now. Great.

"Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks..."

Yesterday was a scorcher but I had planned to take my GS troop to a minor league baseball game and since we hadn't done anything where families were invited in a while I thought it would be fun to make this event a family outing. It was a success! It was hot though. Before the first inning of the make up game from the night before was even over we were all sitting in pools of our own sweat and a select few of us had slightly sunburned faces. Fun times. Here's a few pics of the fun...

TTT - on Friday

1. I let yesterday slip completely by me. As far as I got on this post yesterday was the first portion of the title. haha I only added the Friday today because I am JUST NOW sitting down to write this post. Winning!!  Thursday was a blah blah blah day for me and if you're friends with me on FB you already  know that. ;) Friday is much better and I am glad to see it is whizzing right on by. 3pm already!?!? Nice.

2. I bought some new mousse at the store last night because I was out. I should have gone with what I have been using but decided last minute on some Aussie stuff. Wrong move. I'm dealing with a ball of frizzy fuzz today. I don't mind my curly hair usually. I like it especially when I get the right combo of just right towelled dryness and mousse... you know the just right combo is critical with naturally curly/wavy hair. Today's combo was all wrong but I think it is just the mousse in general. If you have a good suggestion for drugstore brand mousse please help a girl out. I hate spending oodles on beauty products so it has to be something I can pick up at Wally World or Target. I know I'm pathetic.

3. We have a semi-fun weekend planned. Tomorrow I should really get up and go for a long run (hubby even told me to find my buddies and go..not that I need persmission).... at some point the kids and I are going to soak up some sun by a pool of cool water. Hubby would be doing the same but his dad flew off a roof and is holed up in a hospital bed recovering from surgery to a broken wrist. You'd love me if I posted a pic of that damage huh!? It was UGLY. He's ok though. Anyway, so the fun family day we had planned will be slightly cut short because the hubby will be helping his dad on the roof work, since a man with two broken wrists in a hospital gown likely should not be on said roof he flew off of just yesterday. Hubby is so sweet and helpful. Saturday evening the Girl Scout troop and me (and some others) will be sitting in some heat and humidity while watching our local minor league baseball team! Fun stuff.

Have a great weekend peeps! And while I've got your attention Go HERE and check out my review/giveaway ...tell your friends too, please and thanks. :)

Wordless Wednesday

Sleepy heads

Tuesday Randoms

~ It feels like Monday. I don't have to tell a lot of you that though. I'm sure you had the holiday off from work like I did. I'm sure you enjoyed the long weekend as well. I did enjoy the weekend. After a weekend out of town, running a really big race, and travel back home has definitely resulted in me being super pooped this morning. That could have something to do with the fact that I was up at 4:30 am on Monday, ran 6.38 miles with 59,999 of my closest running pals and then the 3 hour ride home last night. We watched a few fireworks (from our driveway) and were in bed by 11:00pm. No, I do NOT know how I was still functioning by that time of night but I was.  I overslept by 45 minutes this morning. I'm sure you aren't surprised by that (my hubby isn't). I made it to work on time and NO I did not shower (I took one after my race yesterday though...it counts!). I'm going to bed early tonight and I am skipping the gym today.

~ McDs messed up my coffee this morning. I asked for a medium with 3 Splendas. That is what was printed on the receipt. When I got to work to add my own flavored (International Delight Cinnabon) creamer I took the lid off my McDs cup to find it already had cream! Gasp. Taste. Gag. No Splenda. Ugh, apparently they added 3 cream no Splenda. I had to add Splenda and only a teeny splash (if you can call it that) of my fave creamer. It ended up being ok. Only I realized I should have gotten a large coffee. It's gonna take a lot to keep my eyes open today.

~ I really hope the jury ends deliberation today in the Casey Anthony murder trial. Say you don't know who she is or what she has been accused of?? Go here. It's where I have had my ears (and sometimes eyes) glued the last couple of weeks. Heck, I've followed the case for much longer than I care to admit...

~ We've had our new cutie pie pup, Sadie Belle, a total of 11 days today. Hubby told me of this fact yesterday. We've enjoyed her so much and she is totally thriving, growing just like a little babe should. She is THE sweetest little thing and full of energy. But... I admit that I am a bit paranoid given the time and how things happened with Aspen when we had and lost her. It's not been that long ago so it is still pretty fresh. The vet has reassured us that little Sadie Belle is as healthy as can be and that they are pretty sure something had to have been wrong with Aspen (that was undected by a regular office visit) so that helps. BUT still it was hard to go through and I guess it's just going to take a while for that silly paranoia to go away completely.

~ The kids have about 4 weeks of summer left. This blows my mind. Time flies so fast and I know those 4 weeks are going to whiz by, at least for me. I'm not the one stuck at home with them. haha What I'm really saying is...can you believe it will be time to buy school clothes and supplies!? Yikes.

~ I hate when Pandora doesn't play the song I want. It's like it tiptoes all around that particular song just because I asked for it!

~Ok, that's a long enough break from my work for today. I better get back to busting tail on my long list of to-dos! Have a great Tuesday. :)
