Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

Christmas was lovely. I am slowly posting pics of all of our Christmas events. My family is all out of state so we do a little traveling. And that means we get the joy of having Christmas about 4 times! Fun. And with all of that traveling it can be exhausting so I have rested a bit since Sunday, which has been nice. The kids even let us sleep in until 9 this morning! I can't remember the last time I was well and slept until 9 am.

I went to the gym twice today. The first time I ran 4.25 miles. The second I did a little jogging/walking of about 1.50 miles and then my sweet hubby showed me how to use the killer thigh machine. Now my thighs are killing me. I also did some arm work (not a lot, but it counts!). I'm getting the working out under control before the new year so I don't have to consider any New Year's Resolutions. I kinda hate those things! Instead I have goals for 2010. I might post more on that later.

Anyway. I love that I have this week off. There is a lot to be done around the house and this week is quickly passing by. Right now I am enjoying the rest. Like right this minute I am enjoying my computer time in my big comfy chair with my feet propped up and my new, pink heating blanket to keep me all cozy and warm. This is most definitely THE LIFE! :)

Oh and guess what is coming up!?!?
Okay, don't guess...
Let me tell you!
My blogoversary is coming up very soon! Like in January!
Perhaps there will be a give away of some sort. What do you think?? ;)

Santa came

and brought way more than two kids could have ever wished for!
We had a wonderful morning watching the kids open their gifts.
Daddy made a fabulous breakfast, too.
Everyone was happy.
Thank you, Santa.

And thank you God for the most precious Christmas gift anyone could ask for...
Jesus!

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

Where have I been? Have you actually missed me? Wait, don't answer that! ha ha
I know it has been a while since I have blogged. But what can I say? You know it is Christmastime. It's not like anyone in America isn't completely insanely busy, right?! Well, maybe there are some people that aren't. Anyway, I've been around. I've lurked on your blogs..I have commented some but do admit to being a not so great blogger as of late. Wow, does that mean I am human or something?? lol

So, are you ready for Christmas?
I think I am. I have done all of my shopping. I have done all of the wrapping except some of the Santa wrapping for the kids. I have to do that part from the office because I never get a chance at home when the kids are here. Even when they are sleeping I worry they will wake up for one reason or another and bust me! That would not be pretty since my kids are still so young.
So, wrapping is what needs to get done while I work tomorrow.
Oh and there is stuff around the house to get done when I get home from work. Laundry, cleaning, laundry. I think we are the one home in America that really can never get caught up on laundry. blah!!

Are all 3 year olds this whiney?
How whiney? Waaaayyyyyy whiney!
Speaking of...I have a whiney 3 year old that may be on loan to a good home sometime soon if this keeps up! LOL Of course, I am kidding. But these days are hard sometimes.

Oh! I should have taken a pic of this exciting news.
I got a new Keurig mini. It makes a lovely addition to my kitchen counter. And it is red!
I love that I can have a cup of coffee ready in just like 3 minutes!  I don't have to make a whole pot anymore and have half a pot or more wasted. So nice. If you don't one you should see if Santa could bring you one. yeah, so it's late for making requests...
I bet you are on the nice list and it would be sooooo awesome for you to have one, too! ;)

Here is a pic of my cutie pies Sunday for church.
I love how my girl has her arm around her little bro. I sure wish little bro would actually smile for me!

And before I totally forget...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

I cranked up the Christmas music while working this morning. I'm hoping the music will help my shopping get done. Somehow. It is that magical time of year, right!? lol  I mean can't magic get my house all in order complete with the painting project my dear hubby started this week? Can't magic double check my list and get all the needed gifts I still haven't picked out yet? Seriously, I was just texting hubby about everything we need to get done this week and I got overwhelmed just thinking about it. Seems like the more you have to do the faster time goes by.

My hubby got himself a snazzy new Facebook page. I find this hilarious. He is now as addicted to it as I have been. What do I find so funny? Oh, just the fact that he has ragged me for a while about my addiction. lol It's perfectly fine for me to rag him now even if I do have a slightly larger addiction than he does (for now).

Peanut brought home some of the cutest handmade ornaments from preschool. I can't wait to add them to my tree. Oh and maybe I will take pictures of them. I just love the handmade ornaments my kids bring home!

Tell me why it can be 18 degrees for the high one week and 5 days later the high is in the 50s-60s? I either want it to be cold or be warm. I don't like the freezing temps one week and then weirdly warm the next. I do prefer the warmth over the cold though. So, if anyone has a way to make it about 70 degrees year round in East TN, let me know! ha ha

Okay, since I started this post at noon today I think I should tell you that I did actually get some Christmas shopping done tonight AND I also got to go to the gym. Yay! The bathroom and all the other household stuff will wait until tomorrow.....

Thursday Thoughts..just randomness

I did not enjoy my trip to the orthodontist today. I was thinking since it was only 3 short weeks since my last appointment that today would just be a quick check. Wrong. Appointment time: 10:45 am. I left there at noon. Fun. Seriously. I felt as though I was getting my braces on again for the first time. They took things off and put them back on. I was not a happy girl when I left. I'm still not a happy girl.

My Christmas cards are almost ready to go in the mail. They just need to be addressed and stamped. Hey, I said almost! ;) Hopefully tomorrow I can get them completely adressed and by Monday in the mail.

We went to the gym as a family tonight. I love that my gym has childcare. I don't love that my workout tonight was awful. I didn't have a lot of umphf (that's a word... you know, even if I made it up) in me but I am just happy I went and moved my body even a little bit.

There is a reason my husband teaches high school kids and not elementary. Just sayin'! ha ha Love you babe! And yes, before you say it...there is a reason I am not teaching at all!

And speaking of teachers, I knocked out Christmas shopping for both of Peanut's preschool teachers and Annabelle's teacher and assistant at Hallmark tonight. Gotta love those Platinum Rewards member coupons! The sweet ladies at my favorite Hallmark store even let me use 5 different coupons on my purchase! I love a good deal.

Now speaking of gifts and good deals. I have a slightly good one for you. My "Sockadelic" giveaway where you can win a trio of socks from Little Miss Matched ends tomorrow. If you haven't entered there is still a little time! I am choosing a winner tomorrow. Go here.

Friend Makin' Mondays - Embarrassing Moments

Amber  wants us to get a little candid this week and share embarrassing moments.
So, are you ready?
Ha ha

I'm not usually one to post embarrassing stories about myself especially out here in blog land, but...
you guys might actually find humor or pitty in this story.
It is truly my ONE embarrassing moment in life that I wish I could take back or undo.

My sis got married 7 years ago (today actually, I think) and I was a bridesmaid/maid of honor or something like that in her wedding. Well, I wasn't married yet (engaged though) at the time. I remember wanting so badly to catch the bouquet at her reception but not for the whole reason of "being the next to find love/get married" rather I wanted to use it to toss at my wedding (yeah, lame I know, but it was pretty!!).
Well, the thing is my sis picked out these spaghetti strap dresses.
Yeah, do you know those things aren't really made (or weren't at the time) for big chested girls.
Well, long story short, at the reception all of us pretty girls lined up to catch that bouquet. I raised my arm in the arm and did a little hop.
That's when it happened.....
I'm sure you can guess. Let me just say it wasn't my most proud moment.
First of all, it was not me that came down with the lovely bunch of flowers.
Secondly, my girls (who by the way do NOT belong to the itty bitty club at all) came right out of the top of my dress when the left spaghetti strap to my forest green dress snapped. Ugh.
Third, I was ticked that my own mother thought it was hilarious! Geez, lady just give me a pin and FAST!!!

Now go on, laugh all you want. Now that it's been seven years I am laughing, too. But I still don't think it is funny and I hope like heck they destroyed that part of the wedding video.

Say it Ain't Snow

Yes, I said ain't!
But dontcha know I'm from the south?
Anyway, we woke up Saturday morning and saw about 2 inches or so of the wet, white stuff on the ground.
I am such a pessimist when it comes to the forecast around here and if snow is predicted. Seriously. We rarely get it and it's so funny to watch people with a couple of inches of snow. I'm sure you can tell from the picture that the road in our subdivision is clear. Well, it wasn't even treated and it was clear. They treated the roads in town the night before yet I still heard of people staying home and not "braving" the weather. That makes me giggle. ;) We, of course, braved it and went to the gym; but not before I did let the kids throw a few snow balls and pose for pics.

The view from my front door.

By the time we made it home from the gym and a quick bite of lunch the sun had come out and melted much of the snow.  We are hoping that maybe there will be snow for Christmas!

The Coach's Wife becomes a "Coach"

It's true. Do you remember when I said I volunteered to coach Miss Annabelle's Upward basketball team?
I'm sure it was in one (or maybe it was two) of those Random Thoughts posts along the way so in case you missed it let me repeat for you....The Coach's Wife is a "Coach"

I put coach in quotations because honestly I just don't feel like I have earned the title yet. I never once played basketball. Well, unless you count the backerboard goal in my gravel driveway and the ball I got as a birthday present one year as having played basketball. Ha ha... And coaching, um Mama leaves that to the big dogs (aka..the hubby!).  But hubby coached Annabelle's team last year and there were times he was unable to come due to the fact that he had prior commitments to football and track at the high school and he felt he just needed the break this year. I can't blame him. The man is super busy 12 months a year as it is with the high school sports thing. And believe me when I say ...he works hard!  So, my friend and I (her kids play with Annabelle) decided as last season was coming to an end that we would give it a go.

And that's how the Coach's Wife became a "coach."

I really am excited about it. I have a great group of kids. They are a group of first and second grade boys and girls. A few of them are classmates (and BOYS) of Annabelle's. One boy is the son of a girl I worked with a few years ago. There are the twins, who Annabelle has played sports with before and another girl I never met before tonight. I think we are going to have a great little team! Tonight went pretty good. I owe a lot of thanks to my hubby because as usual I was unprepared to start this little journey! I was given an hour long "orientation" one Saturday morning in November and handed a "colach's playbook" along with being told that, "If you can read the book you can be a coach!" Ha ha okay. We will see about that!

I don't have pictures since  I was on the court attempting to show these kids something and since I knew hubby was going to have to get me started there was no way I was going to ask him to bring the camera to get pictures for blogging purposes. But I can assure you there will be pictures before too long. :)

I want to also add that I really am excited about this experience. Upward is a great organization for kids sports. I'm glad for the oppportunity to share this experience with Annabelle and friends as well as sharing God's word while teaching them something about basketball.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We put our tree up over the weekend! I am rather pleased with it this year. I think I fall in love with our tree more every year. We added red lights to it this year. We usually just do all white lights but the kids asked for some color. I don't really "do" all colored lights so I compromised and added some red.

Last night I wrapped a couple of presents so the tree looks fully dressed. I also took a few shots of the kids in hopes that one of them turned out good enough for our Christmas cards.

I always get a kick out of Peanut. He is in that stage of the very fake smile.

It takes a little help from Daddy behind me but we can get him to smile "real" sometimes, too.

And of course there is the "good grief will mom ever stop putting me through this torture" look.
It's a personal fave.  ;)

I'm sure I made some promises of something to get this shot.  But I think it's a keeper!

It's a Sockadelic Giveaway!!

Remember this post?
Well, I thought it would be a lot of fun with the holiday swiftly approaching to do a fun giveaway featuring a cool pair of socks from Little Miss Matched.

Annabelle received a pair of tights (ahem, the one's she is wearing in the picture) as a gift from a friend earlier this year. We lucked up and she had a cute top that matched  her tights! But if you know LMM like I know LMM then you know that the philosophy is to not even worry about having socks that match!
I could spend all day shopping in a LMM store or online. Even Annabelle asked me this week if maybe Santa could put some new Little Miss Match socks in her stocking. How fun!?

If you haven't checked out Little Miss Matched already I urge you to go to the site and look around! She is currently having 12 Days of Holiday deals! And the last two day's offers have been great. :)

Anyway, back to why I keep gabbing about LMM!
Last week my blog readers were the first people I thought about (seriously!) when I was online shopping at LMM. I thought it would be a lot of fun for my next (and last giveaway for 2009) to be a cute pack (not pair, since they don't match) of LMM socks. Yay! Lucky for you!

So here is what is up for grabs by one lucky blog reader!

This is a cute trio of girls socks. What fun would it be to add this to your daughter's, niece's, best friend's sweetie pie or some other special girl on your Christmas list stocking?

How do you win?
You can get one entry for each of the following.
*leave me a comment
*follow me
*go to LMM website and come back here to tell me what item you like best
*blog about my giveaway

I will take entries until December 10th.
Winner will be chosen using Random.org on December 11th. And hopefully I can get the socks in the mail by December 12th so they will reach their destination in time for Christmas.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

Can you believe it is December 1st already?
Wow. This year has flown right by.
I don't know about where you are from but it definitely feels like December here! We had a lovely blanket of frost on the ground this morning and temps in the 20s. Brrr.

I am disappointed today. The line at Starbucks was long both inside and out. So, you know what that means? I'm stuck with just my bottle of water for the day. And because I was in such a "rush" this morning I walked right out the door without my lunch! Should I even mention that I don't have my car today because hubby is using it. Yeah, it's true. He has the guts ripped out of his truck while he tries to repair it. So, he had the privaledge of dropping everyone (including me) off this morning. And the luck of keeping the car!
Oh and speaking of Starbucks have you seen those new cold cups? They are a super cute travel version of their cups for fraps/iced coffees...insulated! And they have a cute red/white striped straw. Love.

Did you take advantage of Cyber Monday?
I did not. I attempted to but American Girl's website was being a pistol and when I was finally in and able to look at the sale items the 2 things I had previously put in my cart were sold out. No fun. I did take advantage of some good deals on Black Friday. That was fun. My biggest find was the Old Navy Frost Free jackets for the kids @ $15 each! I got them each a coat that should take them into next year and saved about $68! And I got myself a couple of sweaters for $15 each. Score, right!?!

Hubby hung Christmas lights on the house this weekend. They were brand new as we had just purchased them Saturday. We made sure they all worked when we opened the package. Wouldn't you know that once he got on the roof and hooked them up...there are strands of lights NOT working. Oh well. It will look great once the truck is repaired and he can get back on the roof to repair the faulty strands of lights! Or at least that's my hope anyway.

Last week I posted a picture of Annabelle titled "Little Miss Matched." Stayed tuned for a related give away on my blog. It will be loads of fun, I promise! ;)
