Thursday Thoughts

Because I have nothing better to report and no recent pics of all the fun stuff we've been doing (or not). haha Anyway, I leave you with these little bits of random stuff.

~Dear Chickfila Drive Thru worker lady,
Is ketchup in short supply around there? Why would you give someone 3 packets when they order a large fry? I can understand giving 3 packs of ketchup with a kids meal but come on. You actually gave me more mayo and mustard packets (4 mayo, 6 mustard) than you did ketchup (3!!!). I am baffled to say the least. Are you afraid Mr. Cathy or his little family is going to cut your pay for handing out packets of ketchup that may or (in this case) may not go to waste? I can assure you he won't do such.

~I registered to run my first half marathon. Yep. Seriously, *I* am actually going to run 13.1 miles. Hubby is going to do this with me. And I have a feeling he might will thank me once it is over be cussing me about mile 10 and ready to kill me once we finish. haha Or maybe not? I love that he does these crazy things with me.

~It grosses me out completely when people talk with a mouth full of food or attempt to chew their food and talk at the same time! Nasty. It's worse when an adult does it. I can understand little kids to an extent since they are still learning but seriously, adults....it is simple manners...chew, swallow then speak.

~The school pick up line is my least favorite part of my day. I am not patient at all and waiting in line for me is just no fun. I don't understand why some parents get there at 2:00 for 2:45 pick up!? There have been days that I have gone to pick ABG up early for a doctor/dentist appt and noticed cars in pick up line at 2:00. 45 minutes of waiting in line, sometimes longer. No thank you. I don't like sitting in my car that long. And no a book or magazine and even games on my phone are not enough to help pass the time or make pick up line any more pleasant.

~I want to go to bed early tonight. I have hit the gym (relatively) hard every day so far this week. I still have a 3 mile run ahead of me for this evening and an hour of personal training tomorrow (my first!). I am tired. But not the physically worn down kind. I think more mentally tired. Hmm. Maybe it's just been one of those days?!

~ BTW, I did not eat all those fries...at all. You'd be surprise how much my (almost) 5 yr old son can eat, especially from Chickfila. And I have a weight loss success story.. it's been shared on my other blog and will soon be shared on another fabulous blog. Stay tuned for all the details of that, if you want. I'm kinda sorta proud...or at least learning to be proud of what I have accomplished over the course of the last (almost) 2 years.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

Apparently I took a little blogging break! ha Hubby asked me last night if I had blogged and it dawned on me that I hadn't posted anything since my sunrise pictures. You all know I tend to be a slacker.
We didn't really do a lot this weekend and aside from the 7 miles I ran on Saturday I was pretty lazy. I sat down and read some blogs, even commented on a few but to actually have enough brain cells functioning to write my own... nope, didn't happen. I did sorta think about it though and ya know it's the thought that counts.

I've been going to bed early lately (like last week..haha) so that I can get up before everyone else in my neighborhood and go to my gym. They have a 6am BodyPump class that I love (mainly because it is only 45 mins long and they leave out the lunges!). The class is M/W/F so last night I decided since today was Tues I would stay up late to sleep a bit later. Makes sense, right?! No! I'm tired today. Like more tired than if I had gone to bed at 10 and gotten up at 5:20, then worked out. What's up with that?

So, I just spent the last hour and a half reading skimming through an entire blog of the lady who (a teacher) ate school lunches every day for a year. Makes ya think (or at least it did me). And I now vow to pack my kids' lunches daily. Seriously, if I have to starve my kid will have a healthy  lunch packed from home to eat.

I betcha can't guess the weather in good ol' East TN today?? haha It is Tuesday afterall!  Should I even mention that it still makes me wish I was at home lounging around instead?

Yesterday Peanut boy was at work with me for a while. He was sitting in my lap when I opened my emails. I opened one from Victoria's Secret not giving a second thought to the boy in my lap. He put his hands to his eyes and said, "oh mom, tell me when it's gone!" Whew. Safe there, but I am pretty sure in a few years (better be more like few 30 years or so) my boy will be the one eying the VS model and I will the one covering MY eyes.  But for now I am just glad he is still sorta innocent. If only one of you moms of older boys could promise me he would stay innocent and cute. Ah, who am I kidding...I did marry a man. ;)

I'm glad I keep my iPod in my gym back. I'm also glad my bag is packed daily and that I bring it to work with me. I needed my iPod today. I got tired of listening to the hum of my heater under my desk. Now I can rock out to a little Pink.

Did I mention I ran 7 miles on Saturday? I'm still kinda stoked about it. I never thought I'd be able to run 7 miles. Heck, I never even thought I'd be a runner! But my feet/legs/body were moving for 7 whole miles. Tomorrow I am going to do something else I never thought I'd do.  And in April I will hopefully (along with my amazing hubby) be doing something else I never thought I would do.

Ok, I gotta get some work done and before I know it I will have to pick the girlie girl up from school! Where has this day gone???

This morning

I walked out to the garage this morning to start my car and upon opening the garage door I saw this....

The most beautiful sunrise I've seen in a while. Even my 4 (almost 5!!) year old was saying how cool the sky was this morning. I'm glad I was able to grab my camera and get these shots. By the time we were loaded in the car and backing out of the garage the sun was up and the clouds had parted and that was still pretty but nothing compared to just at sunrise.

WW- words included

Over Christmas break we visited my family in GA. My youngest sister had a new baby  just days before Christmas. I got to visit and held this precious boy all.day.long one day. :) He peed on me, pooped on me, and of course the day would not have been complete had he not emptied half the contents of his bottle on me! It almost made me want another baby, but then I remembered they grow into big kids...with more pee, bigger poops and vomit that doesn't come from breastmilk. Suddenly my ovaries quit aching. But isn't a a real cutie?

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

There is definitely moisture in the air. I hot rolled my hair TWICE this morning and the curl didn't stick, which baffles me because I have curly hair anyway. But I know part of it is due to moisture in the air. I can just tell. And as much as I loved the snow I hope it is just rain that will be moving in. My hubby might go certifiably insane if he and the kids have anymore time off from school. Don't get me wrong, we both love the kids but there is only so much you can take cooped up inside that long with them. And oh my the messes, the fighting...and for the love of pete, can't they just leave the dog alone!? lol  SO, yeah, he welcomes precipitation but is hopeful it is in the form of rain. I am mostly bummed that it has knocked the curl outta my hair this morning.

I've mentioned before how much I love my morning coffee. I love it even more when I have the extra time to make an extra cup to bring to work with me. This morning is one of those days that I absolutely needed the extra cup. I'm sleepy today. I think because I had a weird dream last night. Weird dreams are no fun.

The database for the program I work out of "has been corrupted." This means a couple of things that I am sure no one in blogland is interested in hearing about. What it means for me is...1. I am bored to death until it can be corrected. 2. I probably lost about 500 files.  What I do want to inform those of you who use computers daily without giving a second thought to your files because you think they are "just there." BACK UP. Back them up. Back them up!! NOW, go back them up. Floppy disc, cd, thumb drive whatever just do it. I've been told to do this thousands of times and of course it is always in the back of my mind to do. Ha. Now, the computer guru told me yesterday with what is going on with my database it may or may not have made a difference whether I had a back up but still.. back up!
You know what is annoying about clothing manufacturers or makers or whatever they are called?! Jeans. I like one particular brand and style/fit of jeans. I have several pair of this same style/fit from the same place. What annoys me is the different washes. How can the dark wash fit perfectly yet the lighter wash be too big in the same size/style of jeans? Now, normally I wouldn't complain about my jeans being just a little too big when I first put them on but what happens after wearing them all day is that they do begin to give and stretch a bit causing "saggy butt." Nothing is more unattractive than saggy butt in jeans. And even more annoying is that the slightly too big jeans are not the jeans I've been wearing for months but the new ones I got as a Christmas gift. Go figure, right. I hope a few good washes and dries on high heat will break them in real well.

Today is an orthodontist day. I've had dreams of getting these flippin' braces off. But as said in a top 40 song.... "It was only just a dream......"
It's funny how when you have braces the first thing a lot of people ask is, "When do you get them off?" or "How much longer do you have to wear them?" Beats me. I really don't even recall the initial time line I was given but I think most braces wearers are pretty much over the metal smile within a few weeks of getting it. I know I have been. I just feel like my teeth are always dirty/icky and believe me I brush and floss like it's my part time job. I want brushing and flossing freedom again.

Do you have a bunch of random thoughts rolling around in your little head today?
If so, head on over to The UnMom and link up.
Have a great Tuesay!

Snow Days Snow Play

Sunday night we went to bed wondering if the threat of heavy snow that was predicted would actually happen. The last time they threatened a snow storm we got a measly dusting of the white stuff and for me that was just enough to make me mad! Predict it...I want it to happen and in large quantities. I had been Facebooking all evening Sunday and saw report after report of snow fall in GA and was getting jealous. I was hoping but went to bed a doubter.
This is what we woke up to bright and early Monday morning...

I think we measured about 6 inches or so and the snow fell throughout the day. Those tracks were made by this little beauty...

Sassy girl, our going on 12 year old boxer dog, is not a fan of the cold or snow. Her old bones hurt is the best we can figure. She spent most of her snow days bundled up by the window just like that (when the kids would actually leave her alone!!!).  And while she was in napping away this is what the rest of the family found themselves doing...

As you can see,  we really made good with our time in the snow! I must confess that other than a few sled rides down the driveway and taking pictures I didn't even touch the snow! ha I did have fun though and if my driveway were still covered (and it weren't so cold) I might go home and sled down the driveway but my awesome hubby shoveled it clean and the sun beat down on it all day so bye bye snowy driveway. :)

Hubby and I both (mostly hubby actually) are both keeping our fingers crossed that school returns tomorrow but the temperature never got above freezing today and while the sun was shining I am afraid many roads still look a lot like this...

And if that is the case, my poor hubby will be stuck in side with our rowdy crew possibly causing temporary insanity on his part. Please say a prayer for all. ;) It's been a long week and may very well be an even longer weekend (Monday's a holiday for them...yowza!!!). Snow can only make us southern folk play nicely together for so long.  Happy Winter, y'all!!

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

For a brief moment this morning I wondered what day it actually was. I've been home since Friday night and can't really tell you the last time I left in the car. One reason is due to not feeling well and the other....SNOW! Not just a little bit, we got a good 6 or so inches where I live. I've lived here 12 years(or maybe it's been 13?)  and cannot remember a time we got more than a couple of inches. We usually have to drive to the mountains to go play in *good* snow with the kids. Not this time!! This is the kind of snow I remember from when I was a kid. Fun times and I have been lucky enough to have had 2 snow days off from work myself.

Speaking of work and being home and all that...
I'm pretty sure I will be more than happy to go back to work tomorrow.
I DO love being home with hubby and the kids but my kids are so flippin' active and being couped up together (the kids) for too long leads to arguing and fussing and "don't touch me, get out of my room, STOOOOOOOP!' a little more than daddy and mommy can stand. And of course there really is only so much snow play one kid (and his/her parents) can handle in a day or two. And seriously, I think being home all day makes kids hungrier! All they have done is ask for a snack, lunch, dinner, FOOD from the time they wake up until they finally crash at night! What is up with that?

I have lots of fun snow pics to post but I think I will save those for actual blog posts rather than put them out here. You'll be fine with that, right!? haha

Hubby and I did something fun other than sledding and building snowmen yesterday.
We both are runners and had talked the night before it snowed about what we would do as far as getting our run in since the roads would likely be bad and we probably wouldn't make it to the gym. We talked about actually going for a run in the snow. I guess part of me knew he was serious and while I would like to think I was serious too I figured I would just bail and find some crazy excuse (like snow) to keep me from going. BUT we both went! And because I have been battling a cold/upper resp thing for a week now I spent an entire  hour after I got back from running coughing my head off, but I think the cold air was actually just what my lungs needed because I do feel somewhat better today and not so tight in my chest!

I ran out of coffee creamer this morning, which might have been ok since it was after my 2nd cup that the creamer ran out. However, I have been having coffee at night as well. So, what did my sweet hubby do? Made a run to the store. And add to the sweetness....he also picked up extra K-cups! I am loved! :)

I've been promising the kids I would make cupcakes. You all know my love for Funfetti cake and frosting! I have now a box of Halloween and Christmas funfetti cake mix that I bought and never made. Today is the day. I promised. haha Now let me see what I can do to burn off the cupcake I plan to eat! I'm not up for snow running today. lol

I also promised Ms. Annabelle that I would teach her how to play Uno. She asked for and got the card game for Christmas. I remember playing it all the time as a kid. It was my Grandma's favorite game!

Did you know it is Girl Scout cookie time?!?! Annabelle gets to start selling tomorrow!!!! Woohoo.
Ok, I'm not real sure why I am excited because I am the troop leader so it means A LOT of work for me and TONS of cookies will be in my house. So, ahem, any of you reading here that are local...I would be happy to sell you any cookies you need (yes, need!!! this time only comes once a year.) beginning tomorrow. Annabelle would be truely grateful and would love to deliver some your way when they get back. :)

Ok, lunch time! Go forth be random and have a lovely day!!!

Meet Me on Monday

Last week I linked up with Java for "Meet Me on Monday" and because the questions were fun and I met lots of new bloggers, I decided to link up again this week.
This week's questions are:

1. Have you (only you..not a group) ever won first place in anything?
Pretty sure the answer to this is no. I'd remember it if I did win a first place something, right?! lol
Does it count that my kids think I am #1??? ;)

2. Are your toes always painted (sorry guys...this question for girls only)?
Nope. I am a runner and my feet spend a lot of time in my running shoes. They're not pretty (my feet, not the shoes. The shoes are new and beautiful!!).  I can't be bothered with pedicures (except the first one before summer vaca!) because the cost just isn't worth it for how ugly and messed up my feet always look. BUT today in the shower I was *thinking* about doing an at home pedi and actually painting my toes. It of course was only a thought.
3. What color eyes do you have?
blue

4. Look to your left....what do you see?
The side table by my chair. It holds a cute little lamp with a girl/boy frog dancing. I also see my water bottle, a coffee mug, a journal, the remote, my cell phone, the heating pad....
5. Soft cookies or crunchy cookies?
Depends on what kind of cookie it is. I usually prefer soft cookies though, but if we're talking Oreos or ChipsAhoy then obviously crunchy is better in those because if they're soft then they must be stale and who eats stale cookies?!

"You could save 15% or more...."

These were the words my daughter muttered while playing with TRIO blocks with her brother last night. The TRIO block set they were building from was a boat set. Maybe she was after boater's insurance??

She told me this was her "Geico money."
Pretty clever if you ask me!

And apparently we watch too much tv because this next picture is something she said about one of the other commercials. Maybe it makes sense to you? I don't know, I never watch the actual commercials. But apparently my daughter does! HA!

And because she really wanted me to snap a picture of her with her creation...

Love her! She is so goofy. :)

Random Thoughts Tuesday

randomtuesday

I'm linking up with The UnMom for today's RTT post. Head on over there if you wanna enjoy lots of random funnies. I'm sure you'll have a blast and maybe YOU wanna post some randoms of your own.

I'm going to go ahead and get this off my chest. I don't feel well. I'm grumpy. I woke up in the middle of the night/early morning with chills and a sore throat. It did not make for sound sleeping as all I could think about was how dang cold I was and how when I swallow it feels like razor blades. I planned to get up at 5:20 when the alarm went off, head to the gym and get a good workout in since I won't make it tonight. That did NOT happen. I just did not have it in me and yeah yeah, I know...rest when your body is telling you to rest, but seriously it doesn't make the guilt go away or the feeling that my butt is growing as we speak. Ah, but I will get over it. My bad mood really got set off when someone in my house woke up in a horrid mood, spouting off at the mouth, not doing what she was told, doing things she was told not to do and I had to really try hard once I got to work with her to NOT throttle her through the wall. Really. I know that sounds awful, but it was how I felt earlier this morning. Since then I have calmed down a little. I did let her use some of my lipgloss, so see I am not all mean. ;)

Now that I got that off my chest!
I'm not always so negative, but sometimes I just gotta say what my mind is thinking. You do it too, right?
Sometimes???

Coming back to work after a long break wasn't as hard (yesterday) as I thought it would be. I knew coming in that I was not going to be over loaded with work because I got so much done before my vacation. That was nice. Today it was harder coming in but not because of  the work load (see above). I am glad that today will also be an easy work day.  I just hope it speeds up a bit.

I just heard my daughter tell her American Girl doll that she needs surgery on her tummy, leg and butt. The doll. Weird. Poor doll. OH wait, now she needs her tonsils out and her wisdom teeth. And the tonsillectomy is being preformed through her back. Remind me to never use my daughter as a surgeon. Well, duh, unless she goes into the profession. Or would that be weird, too? Using your child as your doctor. Hmm.

Speaking of surgeries...
My daddy will be going in tomorrow morning (11:30 Cali time) to have that pesky cancerous tumor removed from his colon/rectal region. I'm sure he'd be happy to know I am sharing that in blogland. Perhaps he isn't even aware that there is a blogland!? Hmm. He probably won't even care because it will mean he is free from the cancer devil! Yay. :)

We need to take our Christmas tree and decorations down. I know, shame on me for not having done that yet. It's such a daunting task. Anyone wanna come do it for me? Yeah, that's what I thought. I'd off to cook you something for doing it but y'all know I don't really cook so that wouldn't be fair. Hmm. I mentioned to the hubby that we should leave the tree up, remove the Christmas ornaments and just decorate for each month and/or upcoming holiday through the year. He didn't buy that idea. Bummer.

Today I wore a velour sweatsuit. I got it a few years ago. And I have even worn it through one pregnancy. My sweet, darling daughter asked me why I didn't dress up today. I thought I at least looked decent so I asked her, "Is there something wrong with what I have on?" And of course she had a reply, "It looks like you need to buy a new one because that one is so big." Awww, she is a sweetie. And she is right. This thing was comfy, loose when I put it on this morning but as the days has gone on my sweatsuit has expanded. Clothes that grow are rather annoying. But wouldn't it be neat if you could sit at your desk all day and watch your belly or butt or thighs shrink right before your eyes?!? Oh yeah.....

That's probably all the random you can handle from me in one day. I think I will go get some work done or have lunch or take a nap. ;)

Meet Me on Monday

So, I read lots of blogs and the last year I several blogs I read join in with Java for "Meet Me on Monday." This being a new year and all I thought it would be fun to join in as well and give those of you still reading or those of you that are new a chance to know me better. ;)

Here are this weeks questions and my answers.

1.  Do you have any New Year's resolutions?
I have a few goals for the new year. I would love to lose another 20-25 lbs and get to my goal weight. I also plan (hopefully I will) to run my first half marathon in the spring. I also plan to run a few other races this year but am still working on my "race calendar." And finally, I want to get organized at home.

2.  What food item are you craving right now?
Nothing. I had a good breakfast this morning!

3.  When is your birthday?
Februray 28

4.  What were you doing an hour ago?
Dropping the  Peanut boy off at preschool! He had 2 weeks off and we I was pretty excited for him to go back!

5.  Last thing you cooked?
Hahaha.....do you mean like actual food? on the stove or in the oven?

Happy New Year!!!

Your Emert Fam is an exciting bunch. We party hard on NYE....

NOT!!

We actually went to the inlaws for taco and tamales. The original plan was the typical karaoke like the past few year's past, but after having a blast playing Just Dance 2 for the Wii at my mom's earlier in the week we decided it would be much more fun to rent that game and do that instead.  Gotta say (and you will see from the pics) that at least ONE of your fave Emert's had a blast on NYE.

I take this dancing stuff pretty seriously. Despite the fact that I ran 6 miles earlier in the day, I still boogied for 3 hours straight. My body was feeling it but I was not giving up on making sure I danced to every song on the game. lol

I was covered in sweat. Can you tell? I probably shouldn't tell you how much of a kick my hubby got out of telling me it looked like I was wearing a "sweat thong," but whatever. He got a lot of laughs from everyone in the room and I didn't care that my booty was sweaty. It was fun!!!

And the only other pic from the night is this next one of me and my sweetie...

I hope you all have a very Happy and Blessed New Year!
I would talk goals for 2011 in this post but so far my only one is to get the hubby to compete me in that dancing game.
Yeah, right!!!

Happy 2011!!!!
